Job History

2008 - Current

Sobriety High School - Science Teacher

Since the 2008 school year I taught all core sciences, robotics, and web development. Some of the most unique classes I taught were Kitchen Chemistry, Physical Computing, The Science of 1984 and Outbreak!, a 2-week summer school class that simulated an outbreak in the school. I have also created and taught online class used at other campuses via Moodle.

The class website at www.ScienceFor.Us has been central to all of my classes. Assignments, notes, and news related to class is available to students via the website. Students that had difficulty focusing in class were successful with the various media resources found on the site. These included notes, HTML video tutorials, and audio readings of book Desert Solitaire I created myself.

To increase student activity and school spirit I started the “Board Game Enthusiasts Club” and the “SHS Film Club”.

I also created a new and free website and learning system for the school using open source software and an original design. More can be found in the Experiences section below.

Open Source Online School System - Sobriety High School, www.sobrietyhighschool.com

Created a new website for the school with an original design and content controlled by Wordpress μ, Buddypress, and Moodle. The site includes a school website, the ability for unlimited teacher websites and blogs with their own looks and features, a place for student groups, and Moodle for online learning.

I found free online hosting for the school district and only used open source software making the system completely free now and into the future.
